santānāntarasiddhiḥ

buddhipūrvāṃ kriyāṃ dṛṣṭvā svadehe'nyatra tadgrahāt |

jñāyate yadi dhīścittamātre'pyeṣa nayaḥ samaḥ ||

ātmani cittaspandanapūrvau kriyābhilāpau dṛṣṭvā'nyatra tayordarśanādyadi spandanamanumīyeta, cittamātre'pyaṣa nayaḥ samaḥ | ataḥ cittamātratāvādī api paracittamanumātuṃ śaknoti | tacca kāyavāgvijñaptipratibhāsi jñānaṃ jñānāntaraspandanaveśeṣeṇa vinā bhavatyevaṃ na matam | [1-3]

atha parajñānasya kriyānupalambhāt paradhīranumātuṃ na yujyata iti cet ? na; tulyatvāt paro'pi parajñānapūrvau tau kadāpi na paśyati 'taḥ tenāpi tanna jñāyate |

ātmanaścittasya paravartinornimittatvānupapatteḥ paracittaṃ jñāyata iti cet | kiṃ na yujyate ? svasamutthāpakacittasya pratisaṃvedanābhāvāt, ātmacittaśrayiṇoścātmani darśanāt | tāvapi yadi yathā syātāṃ tādṛśāvupalabhyeyātām | anyathā darśanādanyanimittaṃ sidhyatīti cet ? aparasminnapi samānameva, svasamutthāpakacittasya saṃvedanābhāvāt | svacittaspandananimittake vijñaptipratibhāsinī jñāne cāntarmukhapratibhāsinī pratīteḥ bahirmukhapratibhāsinī anyanimittadutpadyete | [6-12]

animitte eva bahirmukhapratibhāsinīti kinneṣyate cet ? animittatve sarvasyānimittatvaṃ prasajyeta | vicchinnāvicchinnapratibhāsakṛto bhedo na jñānayoḥ spandanatvanimittabhedavibhāgakṛt | tenāvicchinnapratibhāsinorapyanimittatvaṃ bhavet, viśeṣābhāvāt | tathā sati, avicchinnatvaviśiṣṭaḥ pratibhāsabheda eva spandanapūrvako na bhavati | kintarhi ? vicchinnasyāpi kriyāviśeṣasya pratibhāsa eva | śaropalaprakṣepaṇayantranirmāṇaparapracālanādikriyāviśeṣapratibhāsināṃ vicchinnasyāpi pratibhāsasya spandanapūrvakatvāt | parakṛtacālanādināṃ cāvicchinnasyāpyatadpūrvakatvāt | [13-19]

tena hyatra kriyāviśeṣamātreṇa spandanasya pratītiritī yujyate | tatra yadi kasyacidpūrvakatvam, na ko'pi tatpūrvakaḥ syāt, viśeṣābhāvāt | ataḥ kriyāviśeṣasāmānyaṃ spandanaviśeṣasāmānyasya gamakam | tatra yathā kriyāmupalabhya, ātmani spandanānupalambhādanyatra spandanapratītiḥ; tathā kriyāpratibhāsopalambhane'pi | samānametat; paro'pi parakriyābhilāpayornimittaṃ nāstīti kinnecchati ? tenāvaśyaṃ tau spandananimittakatvāt tadbhāve na bhavata iti vaktavyam | paro'pi tayoḥ pratibhāsau tathaiva vadet | ataḥ nānayoḥ parasparaṃ bhedaḥ |[20-26]

yadi tatra pratibhāsinyoḥ spandananimittakatvamucyate, svapnāvasthāyāmapi kinnocyate ? sarva samānam | paro'pi svapnopalabdhaparakriyābhilāpau spandananimittakāviti kinna vadati ? tayorabhāvāditi cet | tathopalabdhisāpyāt kinna staḥ ? atha middhenopahatatvāt puruṣasya arthaśūnyaṃ vijñānaṃ jāyata iti cet | paramate'pi tasmādeva parādhipatyaśūnyaṃ vijñānamupajāyate | 27-32]

atha svapne'pi jñānasyārthavattvāttadopalabhyamānā api parasantānā eveti cet |

paraṃ prativigrahītuṃ yadi yuktyāgamarahitastathāvidho'sad vādaḥ samāśriyeta, tadā parābhimataṃ tasya parāyattatvaṃ na ko'pi nivārayet | etatkeṣañcinmata eva sarvāṇi tathāvidhāni jñānāni santānāntarāyattāni | viṣeṣastu sākṣātparamparayā ca | kadācit svapne'pi tasya sākṣāt santānāntarayattā iṣṭaiva; devādyadhiṣṭhānataḥ satyasvapnadarśanāt | tasmādasya naitadasadvādasamāśrayaḥ | [33-38]

tāvattayā kriyayā'pi taccittaṃ kathaṃ jñāyate ? cittasya kāryatvāt | tasya kāryatvaṃ tu cittāntare'pi tulyamiti kathanna jñāyate ? api ca, yadi tatkriyā svasattāmātreṇa svasantānaṃ pratyāyet , tadānupalabhyamānenāpi syāttathā pratipattiḥ | na; jñānāpekṣatvālliṅgasya iti cet | tada tatra kimanayā paramparayā - paracittāt kriyā, kriyātaḥ jñānam, jñānāt tasya pratipattiriti | [39-44]

paracittaprabhavadharmi kriyāpratibhāsijñānamevāsya gamakaṃ bhavati | tasyādhigatistu antaśaḥ tadāśritatvāt | spandanamātrasāmānyaṃ kriyābhilāpajñānasāmānyasya kāraṇatvāt kāryeṇa kāraṇasya gatiḥ | tatra ātmaspandananimittakasyāntarmukhavṛttiḥ , anyasyānyathā | prāyeṇādhikṛtyāsau bhedaḥ | etayoḥ saḥ kāryakāraṇabhāvaḥ svāpādyavasthāyāmitarasyāmapi ca samānaḥ | bhrāntyavasthāyāṃ yathāsvaṃ pratyayaviśeṣopāśrayāt paraspandanadinimittodbhūtavijñānavāsanaiva kadācitparābhogādeḥ vyavahitādapi vṛttiṃ labhate: na tvatyantāsadābhogāt | tasmāt sarvāvasthāsu kriyādivijñapteḥ cittaspandanamanumīyata eva | [45-51]

kriyātaḥ spandanapratipattau svāpa itarasmiñca syātpratipattiratha vā naiva kadācana |

paraspandanabhāve'pi kriyālambanodayāt | bhavatvālambanodayaḥ, na tu kriyā | kriyayā spandanaṃ gamyate | bhrāntyavasthānāṃ kriyaiva na bhavati, arthaśūnyajñānodayānna doṣaḥ | sarvaprakāravyapadeśasāmyāt kadācijjñānamarthaśūnyam, anyadānyathā ityeṣo'dhikāraḥ kuto labdhaḥ ? atha middhādinā'vasthā'nyathābhāvaścet | yadyevaṃ sambhavet, bhavatu avidyopaplutatvāttathodayaḥ | tathā sati arthāntaravādahānyā ete'nekāśakyanigūhanadoṣaprasaṅgāḥ mahākṛcchrā uttereṇaikena nihatā bhavanti |[52-58]

nanu tayoḥ darśanāt kāyavāgvijñaptibhyāṃ svamutthāpakacittasyānumānamiti nyāyyam | na tu santānāntarasambaddhavijñaptipratibhāsijñāne paravijñaptī bhavitumarhataḥ, tayoranupādānopādeyatvāditi cet | nocyate paracittasamutthitavijñaptirūpatvāttatra pratibhāsijñānena samutthāpakacittaṃ gamyata iti |



kiṃ tarhi ? tasya kāryatvāt | vijñaptiriti samutthāpakacittasantānājjāte kriyāvāgākārake jñāne eva | samutthāpakacittaṃ ca tayorevopādānakāraṇam, santānāntarajñānayoḥ tvadhipatipratyayaḥ | vijñapterupādānātte janite | tatsambandhenopacārād vijñaptī bhavataḥ | bhavatu svaparayoḥ svasvapratibhāsasyānubhavaḥ, taimirikadvayadṛṣṭadvicandravat; tathāvidhavijñānasya hetuḥ vāsanotpādasvabhāvabiśeṣo'nādikālikaikārthagrāhādhyavasāyitvāt | ekahetusambhūtayoḥ svaparavoijñaptijñānayoḥ vijñaptivenopacāraḥ | [59-64]



kiñca kriyādipratibhāsivijñānāt kāryaliṅgājjātaṃ yatparacittajñānaṃ tatparacittaṃ viṣayīkriyata āhosvinna ? viṣayīkaraṇe'rthāntaraṃ syāt | aviṣayatve tu kathaṃ jñānena paracittasattā pratīyate ? tatsvarūpājñāne tatsiddhairasambhavāditi cet 3? eṣa prasaṅgo'pi samaḥ | kriyāvāgbhyāṃ paracittaṃ pratipattimatāmapi tatsvarūpaviṣayīkaraṇe svacittajñānavat tadākārasyāpi jñānaṃ prasajyeta | tadajñāne tu tena tatsvarūpasya grahaṇaṃ katham ? [65-67]



atha liṅgāt sāmānyadhigateḥ nākārasya pratītiriti cet ? kiñca tatsāmānyaṃ paracittam evānyadvā''hosvidavācyam | anyatvāvācyatvayorekatve tvanena tatsāmānyameva gṛhyeta, na paracittam | tatkathamanena tad gamyate ? nāpi sāmānyaṃ paracittameva | tathā sati tadākārasyāpi jñānaṃ prasahyeta ityuktam | [86-71]



na hyeṣā anumānaprakriyā | na hyanumānamarthasvarūpasya grāhakam | pratyakṣavat pratibhāsāviśiṣṭatvādeḥ prasaṅgāt | tena nāsya prāmāṇyam | tatsvarūpāgrahe'pyabhipretārthāvisaṃvādāt prāmāṇyam | dhūmādiliṅgājjātamapi na vahnayādisvarūpaviṣayi, dṛṣṭenāviśeṣaprasaṅgāt | anumānasyātītādau niḥsvabhāvatāyā cāpravṛtteḥ, arthakriyāprasaṅgācca | [72-76]



paracittānumāne'pyabhipretārthāvisaṃvādo'styeva | tatpravartanadvāreṇa prāṇyantarasattāṃ pratipadya punaḥ punarvyavahārapravṛttau tadādhipatyādāgārthasya prāpteḥ | tanmātrafalacintakasyalokasya prāṇyantarānumāne pravṛtteśca | uttarārthaviśeṣapratibhāsijñānānubhavodayamātreṇa puruṣasya nirākāṅkṣatvāt | pūrvajñānena vyavahārasamāpteḥ kṛtārthatatvaṃ pramāṇatvena siddhatvāt | [77-81]

nanu svapne'pi pūrvajñānāduttarārthapratibhāsijñānamutpadyate | na tanmātreṇa pūrvajñānasya prāmāṇyaṃ yujyate, tadānīṃ sarveṣāṃ jñānānāṃ bhrāntatvāt | tatra vijñaptijñānaṃ na kadāciccittaspandanādhipatyena vinā udbhavatītyataḥ tābhyāṃ ye anumīyate | bhrāntivaśāt kadācid vyavahite'pi udeti, na tu tadādhipatyarahitatvam | viśeṣastvasti sākṣātparamparayā cetyuktam | tatra yathā pūrvavijñaptijñānānāṃ paramparayā spandanādhipatyādudayaḥ tathā taduttarāvasthābhāvināmapi | vijñaptijñānāśrayaspandanottarāvasthācittasantānādeva paramparayotpādaḥ | tatrāpi yādṛganumānaṃ tādṛgavisaṃvādo vyavahāraścāpyastyeveti kenāpi na gṛhyate | [82-86]



paracittānumānena tatsvarūpāgrahe'pyavisaṃvādād bhavatu tathā prāmāṇyam | sākṣāt paracittavidāṃ tu katham ? yadi te paracittasya svarūpaṃ sākṣājjānanti, tadā tasyārthāntaragrahaṇaṃ syāt| atha na jānanti, kathaṃ te sākṣādvidaḥ ? kathaṃ nāma pratyakṣeṇārthasvarūpasya agrahaṇaṃ ca bhavati | atha na gṛhyate, kathaṃ tarhi pramāṇamiti cet ? aprahīṇagrāhyagrāhaka vikalpayogināṃ paracittajñānamapi vyavahāre'visaṃvādādeva pramāṇam, rūpādidarśanavat; āśrayāparāvṛteḥ | yogabalāddhi teṣāṃ jñānaṃ paracittākāraviśeṣānukāri sfuṭābhamupajāyate, karmadevādyadhiṣṭhānabalāt satyasvapnadarśanavat | teṣāmapi na paracittaviṣayitvena jñānamudeti, te'pi tadākārasadṛśasvacittapratibhāsameva jānantītyevamavadhāraṇād paracittavida iti vyavahāraḥ | tadākārānukārisfuṭābhatvāt tatpratyakṣam, avisaṃvāditvācca pramāṇam iti matam | acintyo hi bhagavataḥ sarvārthādhigamaḥ, sarvathā jñānabhidhānaviṣayātītatvāt || [87-93] ||
